Food Network Fans - View Single Post - On cloud nine -- I met Alton *again*

I know its been a week since this happened, but I've been so busy and I really, really needed to come down from my high. Last weekend I traveled down to Georgia to meet my at time favorite TV food personality... Alton Brown!

He was doing a book signing and lecture as fundraiser for the Cobb County Library. I had to go! Yeah, its something like 530 miles from where I live to lace w:st="on">Mariettalace> about I had to see him!

lace w:st="on">Altonlace> called his lecture: AB’s Practical Guide to Cooking and Eating Planet Earth. It was hysterical. If you think he is funny on Good Eats, you have got to see him doing a live presentation. The guy is funnier that a lot of stand-up comedians! This was my second time watching one of his presentations. I think I laughed harder at this one than the cooking demo, which was very fun.

He talked mainly about issues relating to food and American’s consumption of it. He made a lot of good and interesting points.

He talked about how restaurants have created this “kid friendly” menus but ordering that stuff is really creating picky eaters. He suggests ordering an appetizer instead of things from the kids menu. Also, he said to deny the kids by saying this is “adult food” if you want to get them interested in eating a certain food. It will make them what to eat it.
* Stop buying bottled water, use the stuff from the tap you’re paying for it and it’s cheaper and better for the environment. lace w:st="on">Altonlace> suggests buying a pitcher style water filter. I already had one, yay!
* Eat more lawyers! This was the funniest part of whole lecture. There was a man in audience who was a lawyer and they traded a few barbs but Alton, of course, gave the guy a hard time and made a lot of great jokes at his expense.

. I talked with lace w:st="on">Altonlace> for awhile as he signed my book. He was still so witty. We traded some zingers.
