CookinFun is on a distinguished road
In Defense of The Rach.

Perhaps I'm the only one that openly admits to being A RR fan.

OK, she isn't a chef, she has never claimed to be a chef. She does use fresh ingredients for the most part. At least I've never seen her put a can of cream of anything soup into anything. As far as her boxed stocks, hey, who hasn't used a store bought stock? I have several cans of good ole Swanson in my pantry at all times.

As far as getting her meals done in 30 minutes...Well, she can't help it if MY phone rings, the dog is scratching to go outside or my child just gave himself a bloody nose. Nor can she help it that I'm not quite as organized as she is. If I can get a meal on the table in close to 30 minutes, I'm doing great. She is right, you know, about spending a little time cleaning produce when putting it way. It really IS a time saver. Neither I nor any of my friends have time to spend hours in the kitchen every day. I do like to spend lot's of time creating new and exciting food on days off and holidays.

Loud and grating voice? Ok, I'll grant you, she can get a little carried away, but to me it shows her enthusiasm for what she's doing. She really is passionate about what she does and it shows. When her voice is extra gravelly, I chalk it up to screaming encouragement the night before for her husband and his band. I'd love to hang out with her.

Over done? Well, yes, she certainly is a bit over-exposed, but come on folks, she is taking advantage of opportunities when they arise. Who, I ask, doesn't try to make as much money as possible? She won't last forever, no one does. Why not make as much as she can, while she can, doing something she loves?

Rachaelisms. Yeah, she over uses words/phrases, but aren't we all guilty of a certain amount of repeating ourselves? "Stoup" was a new one on me, but I said "sammy" when I was a kid, still do. Quiznos doesn't have a problem with that word, and their sammies are pretty darn good for cheap, fast food. I know alot of people have said Yummo long before RR ever appeared on TV, and EVOO, ok, everyone knows what it is now, so the need to tell us it's Extra Virgin Olive Oil isn't necessary, but it really doesn't bother me. I remember my husband calling home one afternoon to ask if I needed him to pick anything up on his way home. Among a couple other things, I asked for EVOO, and he brought home exactly that.

Perky? You bet! Perkier on TV than in real life? I'm sure. No one can be that perky all the time, but she's getting paid to be Perky, and she does her job well.

I'm glad she's successful. She has worked very hard for it. How many young girls from a small town can claim to have made so much out of such a simple idea? One thing no one can accuse RR of, and that's being lazy! She hasn't lied about her background, her associations, her education or experience. She is what she is.

$40/day? Yes, it can be done, and yes, if done every day you'd go broke fast, but really, how many people are on vacation all the time? Those that ARE on vacation all the time don't have to worry about money anyway, so moot point. My son and I experimented once on a trip to Seattle. He was 16 at the time, (anyone with teen boys know they are bottomless pits!) and we ate all day for $75. for both of us. Some very good food, too, including lunch at the famed Salumi. Yes, we even had waffle cones at Seattle Center. I must admit, we were more generous with our tipping though.

And...her travel shows. Of course most people cannot travel like she does. She is PAID to travel. What's wrong with that? I'd love a job like that. She has shown many people some pretty cool places to go when they do go on vacation.

AND.......her wedding! You know she paid for all her friends and family to go to Italy to share in her wedding right? Paid for EVERYTHING. I was a bridesmaid once, and had to pay for my own gawd awful dress, and ugly matching shoes that were never worn again.

I have to admit I don't watch her daytime talk show often. I'm not a talk show kinda gal, but obviously many people are. I say Good For Her, and I hope she has continued success.

All right, now my short book is done, got all that off my chest, and must say:

THIS WAS NOT A PAID ADVERTISEMENT

So you all can hate me now. LOL
