| We just cut a pie shape chunk since it is a round cast iron fry pan put a little butter on the bread and set on top and eat along with the beans, after simmering all day beans have added a lot of thickening to the pot, just salt and pepper the beans as you cook them just keep testing the because more they cook, more season they need. For us it is an all day thing put them on in the morning bring to a boil and then turn them down to a low simmer, then keep adding water as needed, and hickory smoked bacon, we tried some maple bacon ruined our beans.
