Yes I took that into consideration as well. My grill grates are cast iron and they are as easy to clean as a cast iron skillet. The plate underneath sits on pegs and is stainless you can just lift it out, the drip pans underneath pull out of the front like a drawer, all of that can go in the dishwasher. The others I looked at like wolf, blue star, thermador, had theirs made so you have to use a screwdriver to get to anything below the cooking surface. That seemed like too much of a pain and I knew I wouldn't like that.
