Paula Deen's promotional pact with
Smithfield Foods has turned out to be a recipe for trouble.
Claiming that Smithfield abuses its workers, a food industry union says the
Savannah celebrity cook, author and restaurateur should reconsider the deal.
Short of that, the United Food and Commercial Workers want her to meet with employees who were injured at a Smithfield plant.
Union supporters have been following
Deen around the country to press their case at her book signings.
On Monday, they and their supporters plan to don chef hats and rally outside her The Lady & Sons restaurant in
Savannah's historic district.
