'Next Food Network Star' premiere sizzles
However, last season's winner, Aaron McCargo, Jr., has seen low ratings for his own show, "Big Daddy's House," in keeping with generally small viewership and short runs for past "Next Food Network Star" winners

I guess Guy has been the most successful winner so far. It would be nice if they could find someone this year who can generate that level of following.

I agree, it really would be nice if it would be a new cooking show, Guy's Triple D is what has made him IMHO, I do not think he would be doing shows if it was left up to his cooking show, might be wrong but he has not left me with a impression that his cooking show would make it on its own. I think what I am looking for is a replacement for Emeril Live, problem is I do not think, I will ever find that.

As much as I love Emeril, I didn't care for the live show as much as I enjoy Essence. Too much going on to follow along with what he was making. I did watch because I find Emeril entertaining no matter what he does, but I would rather watch him in Planet Green's show, which the food network should have latched onto. If he had kept doing Live I doubt he would have done Green.

Yes, his Essence is fantastic. I have watched his Emeril Green, I find it hard to get much from the show, seems like it is less cooking, and more on what you can find at whole foods. I think the concept is good, but for me the production lacks something just have not figured out what. Although it would be nice to go cook with him.

I think it is a little too soon to think that Aaron is not a success. It is his first show and first year. It is not cancelled. It has been resigned for 20 more showings. That not short term. I am sure he is not the lowest rated show on FN. I am sure his ratings are OK for his time slot.
Why did you find the one paragraph about Aaron but fail to include the rating for NFNS since that was the topic?
I have said in many of my post that I wish Aaron was not on a network like FN. There are other avenes wher he would be more accepted. I wish he would take them.

What I posted is what came in my google feed for him as the key word. I have to search for content on him to sustain this forum. He doesn't generate a lot of news. Ina is the same way. If I don't post something when it comes up there is no reason to keep a forum for them.
I didn't write the story.

Part of the problem with Aaron's show is its time slot. He's on weekends in the daytime. Triple D has the luxury of primetime ratings. He's also promoted much heavier. FN could probably make a star out of anyone if they give them enough promo time. I like Aaron a lot. Not necessarily for his dishes, but for his personality. If I catch his show, I watch, but I don't make a point to tune in.
