Duff's Chefography

Anyone see Duff's Chefography tonight? Tons of pictures of Duff as he was growing up. The role of the whole AoC's staff was mentioned but I wish they would have done a lot more on that. The group is what makes the show such fun. There was waaaaaaaay too much of Duff's mother; she had about as many clips as Duff himself.

So what horrible things was Duff doing that made him well known by the police?

I think it was mall security guards who knew Duff. No one said exactly why but you know how kids at the mall can be. He did spray paint under some remote bridges but not on buildings and it was ART not just graffiti according to his mama. I remember spray painting on an overpass bridge when I was a teenager. Hey, that makes me baaaaaad to the bone!

One of the most interesting things is that Duff worked a few hours a week at the French Laundry when he was in pastry school. He wasn't even paid. But he was offered a job after he graduated. Only the first night of his real job, he was goofing off, his boss yelled at him and it walked out of the place. Yikes! The guy has to be pretty confident with himself to tell such a bad story. No weaseling, no lying, just this is who I am and what I've done. I have to like that guy.

I loved when Duff's mom said "Im Aiding and Abeding" when Duff was spraying his art on the walls.

I never thouhgt Duff's real name was Jeffrey of all things.

I liked the mom - she brought the thing together I thought. It's obvious she encouraged Duff to go after his creative gifts. Not sure about Duff's dad; he seems a bit pompous on all the shows I saw and never cracked one smile. I heard some time ago from guys from Duff's UMBC campus that the divorce was pretty grim. Lots of uglies. Good for Duff for getting on with his life.

I really liked how he owned up to his huge career near-suicide at the French Laundry. That took a lot of guts to admit. Hard to imagine he left over just getting yelled at. Guess that's the sensitive artist in him. Big Brute HE Is - HA!

He is very talented, I think he is lucky he found a way to do his own thing. Not many people can grow a successful business the way he has. It seems to be his calling.
