The Ace of Cakes arrived at
O'Hare International Airport on Thursday -- after driving all night from Baltimore -- to hand-deliver a fragile but incredibly sweet table.
American Airlines hired celebrity chef
Duff Goldman to help celebrate the 70th birthday of its Admirals Club.
Naturally, Goldman, star of the
Food Network's "Ace of Cakes," brought the birthday cake.
The centerpiece of the approximately 70-pound, entirely edible edifice was a lanky Texan snoozing in an oversize chocolate chair as a plane flew outside the window, the scene depicting the serenity and comfort of the carrier's members-only lounge.
Perched on a cocktail table next to the Texan, who was dressed in cowboy boots and a bolo tie made of sugar, a laptop computer and cell phone were recharging. An olive-topped sandwich and Admirals Club membership card completed the arrangement.
