The current campaign features the Food Network's Alton Brown, who has been in Westfield, N.Y. this week to film new commercials that will air beginning Nov. 1.
"I think Alton Brown has helped," Davenport said. "He is a very credible spokesman, and he wants to understand the science. He wants to know what makes grapes unique and why grape juice is good for your health."
The benefits of that advertising are likely having a spillover effect, driving up both demand and prices, Muza said.
"When Welch's marketing and sales go up, the other ones are sort of on their coattails," he said.
But not even the host of "Good Eats," and a few extra bucks per ton are likely to transform this into a banner year for the local grape industry.
