AB and DC times 2
Like several other lucky folks on here, I was fortunate to see Alton this week. When I learned that in addition to the Smithsonian he would be at a Sur La Table in Arlington, Va. I had to attend that as well.
At Sur La Table, Alton was in the culinary classroom next to the store. When I walked up to him he said, "Don't you get tired of coming to these things?" I replied about I did so I had to find other people get books for, I had 2 books not for me this time.
Then Alton said, "I hope the trip wasn't far." I told him just the next state over, West Virginia. He said, "I know that, that's why I asked." Then I had to let him know I was coming to the Smithsonian show later. He said something like good or that's good and asked my mom if she was coming too.
The people at the store took the photos during our interactions. I did get a chuckle out of this one:
The logo behind AB's head made it look like he has loops on his ears and that man peering in the window

At the Smithsonian, he didn't say anything to me about coming again. I didn't even get the Hi I'm Alton greeting either. I think he just said hi.

Great pics! He signed his forehead, huh?

Oh... & thanks to Flickr, I finally figured out what his lapel pin is... a really cool lapel pin!

I want to hear AB's Sinatra medley.
"You stole my shirt!""It's hard to do Palistinian cuisine & crack jokes."
About me wearing my blue pineapple shirt

"The dogs need new shoes."
"But then I'm a nerd."
"Do this & people will call you a geek. Personally, I'm okay with that."
"I can't help but wonder... is the bunny okay? I'll never know."

I like the "loops."

The loops look like they are holding his glasses, like a necklace thingee.

I forgot to mention, I snuck in my copy of I'm Just Here for More Food at Sur La Table. It is my working copy, bought from half.com, because I ove that book.
It was a bookclub edition and AB told me those are hard to find because they stopped making them. He said they were cheaply made and fell apart. I told him this was the copy I use, thus the tabs. That's why I brought it, I wanted him to see that I use it! He told me he wanted to fall apart from use
Then signed it.
