BillandAlisha is on a distinguished road
making my taste buds like vegetables

Flat out...I ..hate..vegetables

Well not all kind I like tomatoes (caned), Dill pickles, Potatoes,
Banana peppers, Onions, Garlic , roasted corn, pop corn (its still a
corn so its still a vegetable) salsa, pretty much all processed
vegetables and that is about it.

I hate..loath..dry heave at the thought of Fresh salads, carrots,
beats, peas, beans, sprouts, Leafy greens, raw tomatoes and the list
go on...

I'm tired of having limited choices, I want to expand my taste buds
into the wild world of vegetables. I want to be able to order on food
and just dig in, rather then digging around the food.

So Alton Brown (or fans), I ask you can you help me?

Will you eat some vegetables in other things? Like the beans ... will you eat them in soup or in Chili?

Finding a dressing you like can help with the salads.

Beans..I don't the texture that much. The taste is ok..but the texture ...ick

As far as the dressing goes.. I have tried that..lettuces alone..is ok..but the fresh tomatoes tend to over power it. I don't want to drench the salad and eat fat

Maybe you just need to cook the beans a little longer. Soup is really a very good way to combine vegetables. If you use more of the ones you really like then the others are just background flavors, you will taste the ones you like more.

You say you like canned tomatoes have you tried a bruchetta on the lettuce? I use that on salad sometimes. You can make it from canned tomatoes or buy a commercially made kind. I like some of the ones that you get in the refrigerated section. I am not a big fan of "raw" tomatoes either. The canning process actually cooks them to a certain extent. You can get whole plum Italian tomatoes in the the international section of the grocery store. I use those sometimes to make bruchetta myself.

The lettuce topped with a little bruchetta and grated Parmesan or Asiago cheese is some thng I enjoy.

Now I am hungry.

I think if you started to ween yourself off processed vegetables and added fresh gradually, you would begin to enjoy them.

I'm a big fan of farm fresh veggies, which I have talked about on other threads. In fact, I went to the farm today as this is the last day of the season. I even bought green tomatoes. Have you ever had those? They are delicious made into a sauce or sauteed.

Do you like marinara sauce? Michael has a great one. Go to the Food Network site and type in Marinana sauce. His will be one that pops up. I'd highly recommend it.

Oven roasted tomatoes are good too. I use those in things sometimes instead of raw tomatoes. You can buy them fresh and roast slices in the oven brushed with a little olive oil and Garlic too since you say you like that.
