If you've ever wanted to learn the basics of cooking, and crank out some delicious goodness while you learn, Alton Brown's latest cookbook is the book for you.
Brown is the host of Food Networks' Good Eats and the seasonal Feasting on Asphalt, and is the commentator on Iron Chef America. His first book, I'm Just Here for the Food, won the James Beard Foundation award for best reference book in 2003. Alton Brown's Gear for Your Kitchen was nominated for a Beard and an IACP Cookbook award in 2004. Bon Appetit magazine named him "cooking teacher of the year" in 2004....

I also love Alton's books. I am wondering, though, how much different version 2 is from the original.

The second one is focused on baking, the first one was about cooking techniques.

The 2nd edition of I'm Just Here for the Food has 15 new recipes not in the first edition. The version 2.0 (gotta love Alton's humor) also has meat map magnets which are cool. I have both because I'm an Alton Brown freak

His baking book I'm Just Here for More Food is awesome too.

But, I'm wondering why this newspaper is just now reviewing the book. The version 2.0 came out in 2006

Oh I thought he meant second book, I didn't realize there were 2 versions of the first book. I wonder which one I have?
