I love Alton, but I do think you have to be the nuts and bolts kind of person to like good eats. You not only have to want to know how to make something you love, you have to want to know why making it one way or another would make it better or different. Some people enjoy that others either find it confusing or just don't care.

No, not at all. I think it was just the particular situation. Even though the original poster is obviously very passionate about his/her opinion and really went gung-ho on the subject, I guess in the back of my mind it struck a nerve that there are a lot of chefs on the FN that most members here adore that I don't give two hoots about. Likewise, there are some that I like but when I post positive comments about them the next poster isn't so kind and I just have to say to myself "Oh well." I think on this board I'm in a small minority all by myself in my likes and dislikes.

I think I figured out why I don't care for RR, Sandra Lee and a few others. Their shows are focused on people that don't have much time, or are just learning how to get around the kitchen.

Because I'm beyond that (in years and experience) they don't hold my interest.

Michael is more my style as he entertains like I do and makes interesting dishes. A bit more complex that the other shows. Emeril was good too as is Ina.

I enjoy Alton because he gives reasons and explanations, which is different than other shows.

I like Michael too. And I love his kitchen on the show. I get ideas for my kitchen from looking at his kitchen decor. The walls and cabinets are even very close to the color of mine.

Alton Brown is awesome. He presents the scientific perception on cooking, which most shows dont have...this is why I cant get enough of his shows.

Excuuuuuussse Meeeeee!

Why don't we give this negative post what it want's and take Alton off this channel.

And give him his OWN CHANNEL?

Food Network 2
THE ALTON BROWN - GOOD EATS NETWORK!

Hey COMCAST please beef up my DVR's gigs, it's full of Good Eats and I have no more room for more quality food entertainment.

MORE ALTON...MORE ALTON

Super idea, but I would never want to leave my house... too busy watching. Too bad he couldn't take over ABC the call letters are perfect! (Alton Brown Channel)

You said it. I used to absolutely love Rachael Ray, when i was still learning. Aunt Sandy has some great ideas for quick meals or meals on a budget.... but before either of them got annoying to me I graduated to other shows because what they did was stuff I already knew or could do myself, (or just didn't appeal to me anymore.)

It was actually after I stopped really tuning into their shows that they began getting annoying to me... RR is waaay overexposed for someone who wants a bit more in their cooking shows.
