Rep Power: 2 | "For all the contributions Brown has made to communicating science and cooking, he insists that he does not have a great scientific mind. “I tell stories and science is a tool that I use to tell stories,” he says. “I’m not a chef and I’m not a scientist. I’m a storyteller who makes 30-minute movies about food" Chemical & Engineering News: Science & Technology - An Appetite For Science
He is more than he will ever know, I believe he is actually a Culinary Genius.

He is a culinary genius and an awesome culinary instructor!

Rep Power: 10 | My sister always complains and says she wishes Alton would teach her science classes. She said he would make it interesting.

Rep Power: 10 | On his show yesterday (from 2002) it was all about tomatoes. He reiterated what I had said previously about tomatoes.....never refrigerate them and went on to talk about the chemical changes that take place in the fridge causing the tomatoes to not be so tasty. It was a very informative show. I'll have to try roasting the Roma tomatoes and make sauce his way.
Although, I still Michael's marinara is the best I've tried.

Rep Power: 2 | I'm forever trying to keep the DH from not putting the tomatoes in the fridge or poking a hole in them with a knife to get a "starter hole" so he can cut them. I keep telling him - no fridge and use the bread knife. He was watching Good Eats with me last night and I told him, "See Alton says not to put the tomatoes in the fridge and use the bread knife too!" Never seen a man roll his eyes so! |
