Science-savvy chef Alton Brown has announced that future episodes of his hit Food Network show Good Eats will include discussions about sustainable and local food choices. Brown said he decided to make the change after noticing that many of his biggest fans were packing some extra pounds from following the typical American diet that his shows often promote.

But I like his show how it is.

Sounds like the show is going from the beginning to the end on a food product, now we not only know how and why stuff cooks as it does but also where, why and what for it came from, sounds interesting, sounds more green style.

He has been talking about this for a while now.
Back March when I saw him, he talked a lot about similar themes at the lecture he gave. And he's working with Alaska Seafood. So it will be interesting to see what he does with this. There is a salmon episode coming up in the batch of new Good Eats. I think that one was filmed in Alaska, so that one might be the first to explore this topic.
Really, he could do another series with this topic and change not Good Eats. Then we'd get both Good Eats and a new show!

Why mess with success?
Those who forget the pasta are condemned to reheat it.

It does worry me some. People don't like a favorite to do something different. But if anyone can do it and make it successful I think it would be Alton Brown. I am pulling for him.

Change is good....it may even be better, if that is possible.

I think he'll be able to work this concept into Good Eats. He will still be teaching us.

Alton has always talked about the background of a food, but it's been more on the mega-mart scale. With this change, he's taking it local to show you that you can find "good eats" right in you own neck of the woods without having to go global. Not only is eating local usually cheaper and healthier... you know where it came from and you're helping out your local economy. Brown is going green.

I guess he will no longer be telling us we can find something on the internet.

My problem is that so many things people can get if they live in other areas we don't have here.
