AB's glasses
Found this article in a magazine about eye glasses. Its from 2003 and Alton talks about his glasses. Not sure if I've read this before, as a long time fan things are starting to blur together (no pun intended). But I don't think I've read it before because he mentions when he started wearing glasses and that he has "nasty astigmatism." I know I would have remembered that because that's what I've got too

AB's part is at the very end.

Good find!

I'm just myopic. I like to call my glasses my binoculars.

I have to get the thinnest lenses because the astigmatism is bad so in my right eye it would have a huge bump on the lens. And the first time I went to my current eye doc, he made me walk around the exam room because my right eye RX was so strong he was worried I might be unbalanced.

I have it too. My glasses, back in the 60's, looked the bottoms of Coca Cola bottles, they were so thick. Thank goodness technology has improved glasses and now, they are thin, light and beautiful!
Besides that, I wear gas-permeable contact lenses. Tiny lenses that I don't feel at all. There are those occasions when I wear the glasses instead, mostly as a fashion statement.

I use to be near-sighted with astigmatism but had RK done back in the early 90's (before the days of laser surgry or Lasik) which took care of both problems. Before that I wore the gas-permeable lenses. Now that I've got older, I've had to break down and get some reading glasses which I need for reading and working at the computer. But, at least I don't have to wear them all the time. After having to wear glasses since the 4th grade, I was glad to get rid of them.
