I thought of this thread when watching this episode the other night.

*~Lauren~* I want to hear AB's Sinatra medley.
"You stole my shirt!" About me wearing my blue pineapple shirt
"It's hard to do Palistinian cuisine & crack jokes." "The dogs need new shoes."
"But then I'm a nerd."
"Do this & people will call you a geek. Personally, I'm okay with that."
"I can't help but wonder... is the bunny okay? I'll never know."
I've lost 3 pounds since starting the funky, yoga class three weeks ago. Yesterday we did 900 stomach contraction exercises...you'd think I'd hurt today, but don't. Learned it's all about breathing right to help your muscles and it works!
And, the best part, I have not given up any food items. Although, I eat so healthy it would hard to come up with anything except maybe wine but that's not going to happen. I need to keep at least one vice!
My other source of inspiration is Alton Brown, the host of Food Network's "Good Eats." I talked to him last week and he told me he has lost 43 pounds since March. It might get hard, but I could live with part of his diet:
"I quit eating sweets completely," Brown said. "I don't intend to ever eat them again."
But he also limits himself to one alcoholic beverage a week. I'm not making any promises on that front, assuming that includes wine.
Of course, Brown also took the reasonable portion-control, lean protein, healthy carb approach, too. Anyone knows it works -- it's getting motivated.
Ah yes, the reformed overweight folks! I'm happy for Alton though I'm concerned about his comments regarding his fans. I would never attribute the girth of America to his fan base! LOL..... Anyhow, on the weight loss front I find a few rules of thumb that work really well.
Don't skip breakfast even if you "don't like it" or think your options are limited. It's not all about sweet rolls and cappuccino! You can eat chicken for breakfast if it moves you.....
Eat several small meals throughout the day to keep your metabolism cranking and your energy level up. Portion control becomes easier when you aren't starving.
Eliminate carbonated beverages completely and permanently (yes, even diet soda--it's poison) and anything with caffeine. Caffeine contributes to insulin resistance.
Ban "the whites"--sugar, flour, rice (except brown rice) and white potatoes.
Exercise daily or as close to daily as possible.

Agree with your advise, but I would have a hard time givin' up the "whites"!
I have a caffeine problem, LOL, don't really drink coffee, but have a diet soda every morning!
I think many are looking for that reason that the country is overweight, but it isn't all that simple. I think that it is just a lot of bad habits adding up.
