It seems like, the report is geared toward New York City which seems to lead the way in the food industry of restaurants, but there seems to be no consensus other than high end restaurants are going to slow down, IMO I think they will see a slow down, but maybe a different clientèle due to the fact more people are only going out about half or quarter as often but going to the higher end restaurant to make the most of the time and money spent and have a memorable meal to savor till they can save up again. I see more of the chain restaurants not making it the mid class style, I know we only go out about once every 3 or 4 months and it is to a 5 star or so restaurant now and that is due to the economy, hopping to see some more upper end non chain style restaurant in our area soon, at the rate it is growing, it has tripled the expected growth rate in the last 3 years.

So far there have been very few closing here in the Charleston area... in fact, there's been new ones opening. The area gets enough tourist traffic to keep things afloat. Jan. and Feb. is about the only two "off" months we have now here.

We like doing the restaurant thing, but we go to cheaper places. We don't have fancy tastes, if we went to a real nice restaurant it would be lost on us anyway. I think the restaurants are really hurting though.
