I think I finally have settled on a script to use for my new site. The old script was spammed way too easily and I haven't even gone live with the site yet. If you know me, you know how much I hate spammers. Hopefully it will help keep them out. I am going to try to do a few posts to test things out and see if the feed is working before the first of the month when I plan to officially get things going, I have a little trip this weekend. Then I need to finish up all the prep before the official launch of the site.

I am looking forward to starting my Cooking with cents blog on May first. I have connected this blog to post to twitter ... and so now I am tweeting. http://twitter.com/FoodTVFan When I post here I will have it posting by feed to an auto tweet. My phone is wifi so I will be able to update things on the go with 3G access as well. I guess if I am going to run websites, host and keep up with them all I need to try and get in on all the latest internet fads.

I will give it a shot, maybe it will pay off to keep current.

At the grocery store I wanted to see how well a photo of grocery items will show up on my phone. They had whole select tenderloin of beef for about 50 bucks. Not a bad deal if you have room to freeze it. The photos are a little small from the phone, so I might need to carry my camera as well. But this will do if I am somewhere with out the full camera, I not to leave without the phone.

While I do love having a blog at my food network fan site, I have decided to start my cooking blog on it's own URL.

I think it's fun to make this blog part of the whole social networking function of Food Network fans. More of a "get to know each other" and "what's going on" blog.

Hopefully I will be able to post about my efforts in maintaining the new blog here and keep the actual Food blog on topic.

I have purchased a URL and I am still getting it set up. I might need some input from my blogging friends, being a forum girl this is all new to me.

If you want to check out what I have so far, this will be the new URL. http://cookingwithcents.com

I have purchased a small journal and a shopping program to help with the documentation of my grocery shopping. The program I am using can sync my phone and laptop so it will be easier for me to blog all of my findings. I will also try to look at coupons and store sale fliers to see if they are a benefit to this endeavor. Since I do most of my shopping at Kroger and Sam's Club this blog will be able to give you some idea of where you can save and on which items, presenting to you a better idea of whether the membership clubs would be beneficial to you personally.

One item I can recommend that I think pays for it's self would be a food saver system to allow for airtight storage of meats and cheeses. I have found that all varieties of cheese are much cheaper at Sam's club and the quantity requires a great storage method to successfully save you money and so you do not end up losing to spoilage. Also, if you can find a cheese you like on sale at your regular market or deli ... saving with this type of storage will also help keep some money in your pocket.

Meat that freezes well would also be a candidate for this kind of storage. Ground Beef, Cubed Steak and chicken come out of the freezer sealed and easy to thaw and those particular items do not seem to suffer any extensive quality loss from being frozen. So if you can find them on sale stock up!

I am still organizing exactly how and what I need to begin doing a regular feature, and I will post again soon with some of my findings.

Having a Sams club membership is great. You can get tomatoes diced, sauce and in paste by the case. Big money saver for me. If you don't have a big box club membership, stock up when they are on sale, then you have the start to millions of recipes ready when you need it.

I am trying to think of something I can focus my blog on to motivate me to keep things updated. I am considering an idea I have hoped to see on a food network show but it has not happened.

What I would like to do with everyone looking to save some extra money these days, is start trying to make some cost cutting meals. I want to see just how great a meal I can make for the least amount of money.

I would occasionally like to add photos starting at the grocery store (if they don't throw me out for taking pictures of things ) all the way to the table.

I realize things will probably be cheaper for me than they are for many of you in areas where the cost of living is higher, but hopefully the items will still be a bargain for many.

One thing that should be make it easier is the fact that hard to find items really are not a part of the landscape here, although I do order some things online. But I will try to make things as basic as possible.

I will post these kind of meals as often as I can. And I hope some of you will follow along. :)

My responsibility this year is to bring sweet potato casserole, rolls and a cake. I am thinking of doing Alton's "Gold cake" and marbling it with some cocoa in part of the batter then frosting it with chocolate. My mom will buy a pumpkin and a pecan pie, so I need to make something the kids will eat. That always means Chocolate. My husband will prefer that to the other options as well.

I get tired of chocolate because it seems that's all my family wants me to make. When I go out I like to get something that isn't chocolate if I order a dessert. It's my only chance.

I upgraded to 10 megapixels with my daughter's birthday and the holidays coming up. Plus it's a great tool when you own a website. I really like the detail of the photos. I think you can see everything much clearer than they were with my old camera. It's really cute too. bright green and it fits in my purse for soccer season next year. It seems I would always forget to take it with me this past season so I will just leave it in there next season.

I think it will be great for my food photos here on the site too. Here's a shot of our pizza and tortilla soup from a few days ago.

I have been trying to grow some peppers and a lemon tree indoors for some time now. I have been worried about their ability to mature to a fully developed level because of my light issues. With the mountains all around and trees close to my home, finding a spot where enough light is available can be tricky. I have a florescent light over my kitchen sink so I have been keeping that on to provide extra light near the window. So far so good. The pepper seem to be doing well, and the lemon tree has grown quite a bit from the small trimming my parents brought me back from Florida. I am determined to see it produce at least one lemon. I will keep you up to date on how it goes.

I am the owner of FoodNetworkFans.com. My name is Pam, but I have used Suzie as a screen name online for years, I chose it because my dad called me Suzie when I was a kid because my middle name is Sue. I started Food Network fans because I really enjoy cooking and I have learned so much from the food stars on the Food Network.

We recently remodeled our kitchen to include some great appliances that I love. I really enjoy seeing what I can make at home. I decided to add the blog feature to this site and see if I can officially become a blogger about some of the products from this kitchen I love. I hope you will follow along and I will try to add new things regularly.

The option to have a blog is available to all members of the website. I am hoping others will give it a try. It will be fun hearing from everyone. So if you would like to have a personal blog like this one, or maybe start a fan page I would love to see the additions each of you would make.

Enjoy!
