Cookbooks!!

My cookbook collection could be an analogy for the SAT.
Lisa: cookbooks :: Imelda Marcos: shoes
Last weekend I decided to wrangle in my overflowing culinary tomes into something more managable. Or at the very least, get all of my cookbooks on shelves. Right now they are stacked where ever I can find room for them. I didn't get far on the project.
Overwhelmed!
At one point, my cookbook collection was neat and orderly. A had favorites on one shelf. Ones that had interesting themes like international or ethnic on another. And a whole section for community and church published cookbooks. Then the mass kept growing. Thanks to my mom, she picks up 90% percent of my books at rummage sales and the like, all of my shelves are full.
My favorites are still organized. All of my Alton Brown cookbooks are in their proper place for certain! But the reams of paper I have from printing off Good Eats recipes is not in order. So, I abandoned plans to get the books on the shelves in favor of getting all of my printed recipes organized.
I have this nifty little binder that came out with Alton's first cookbook called the Kitchen User's manual. I got when I attended Alton's book signing in March as a gift and Alton signed it! Its the perfect thing to organize my heaps of printed Food Network recipes. Well... when I get started on the project.

I've been blessed to come from a long line of awesome cooks...from my grandmothers to my mother.I've been in the process of gathering the recipes I DO have and logging them into a 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 journal I bought from hobby lobby. They had a bargain bend by the registers
and the book priced at 5.99 but after the cashier rung it up it was 1.99 so I bought 4 lol.Posted 01-21-2009 at 01:58 PM by slduran6287
