I would think they would have to know which is which. He usually makes his very different than the traditional way the other person does theirs.

He usually loses when he does that. Now with the pie show he won it's hard to tell the difference if you don't know their "specialty" because pie is pie and they make a variety.

I felt sorry for the pie ladies too. I even felt sorry for the cheesecake guy from Juniors. He really couldn't seem to believe that someone with very little cheesecake experience like Bobby could beat him.

What I find ironic though is that when Bobby loses, he says how great the other person is and how that person deserved to win. He's so gracious. But when the other person wins, they often are boastful saying how they are still the best. That one pie lady was quite militant like that.

Gee maybe I should have read all the reviews before I posted that last message.

We love it there. Always busy. Nice staff.

Yup me again.

Went to high school with former Throwdown contestant Chef Beau MacMillan.

But, I guess who really cares?

I've never been of the mindset that these throwdowns are judged correctly. A true throwdown would be for Bobby to taste the competitor's product then try to recreate it, thus having two almost identical dishes to be judged. I think they must give Bobby a certain number of 'wins' per season and that's that. Additionally, anyone who knows Bobby knows his style of food and, of course, it would be the dish that's a little 'different' (i.e. ingredients, taste, garnishes, plating, etc.)

I think most of the losers have been gracious, if not a little dumbstruck for a few moments, that they're so well-known for a specific dish and are doing a thriving business and a chef can come in and take the wind out of their sails. If Bobby didn't have his posse to fall back on, could he really have all those wins on his own? Don't get me wrong. I love the guy but fair is fair.

I think this show is probably on its way out. Too many people already know the setup, so it isn't that big of a surprise to see Bobby pull up with his crew.

It would be great to see him try and re-create the food on his own. Why does he need two additional people to help him? I thought he was a master chef.

This is actually my favorite show on Food Network right now. I couldn't see how any of these people would complain -- good lord, the Food network is recognizing their cooking, why would that be a bad thing? And basically -- it IS a food network special for them, as the show spends a great deal of time talking about the local cook, so it's basically a chefography for each of the competitors -- and sometimes, like in the case of Michelle Doll, they come back and compete on Food Network challenges.

Also, I think the idea of them doing the same dish is silly -- the whole idea is that Flay puts on a different flair. And, keep in mind, he's lost 2/3 of them. So most of the time the local person wins.

Flay is my favorite chef so I really enjoy his shows, I think this could be a network show frankly. It's fun.

I highly doubt it. They're now in what, season 4 and it's still moving along.

And, all great chefs have assistants. I think you're being a little too hard on him.

And again, if i was a local expert on say, steak, I'd LOVE if it Flay showed up...even if I knew he was coming. And, if that's what ends up happening -- people expecting him.

As for the complaints that bobby wins sometimes -- he wins like a 1/3 of the time. And the reason he beats people at their speciality is because he's a great chef, probably the best in the country.

The fact is he's always gracious to the local cook and one of his missions is to show cooks around the country. that's the meaning behind the closing line.
