LAS CRUCES Not everyone can say they've passed judgment on a famous chef's creation for a national television audience, but for one local chile expert, it was all in a day's work.
New Mexico State University chile specialist Stephanie Walker thought she was headed to the Bosque del Apache to be interviewed for a show about the history of green chile in New Mexico, but instead found herself in the middle of a throwdown, as restaurant chef and Food Network star Bobby Flay challenged San Antonio, N.M., restaurant owner Bobby Olguin, of the Buckhorn Tavern, to a surprise green chile cheeseburger cookoff, with the reputation of one of New Mexico's most celebrated foodstuffs on the line.
