My show!

Hey everyone, I haven't gotten the chance to post in a long time, but I come bearing good news! On monday we got the news that our PBS station in nebraska. (NET) is going to have me film my pilot for my cooking show. It's going to be a Nebraska Husker tailgate show, and we are doing a ton of marketing and publicity! hopefully soon i'll get a steady show established. We are looking at 10-13 episodes. If you have any title recomendations, or show ideas. Please let me know!

Whoo....hoooo! Knew you had to be up to something because it isn't like you not to be around here.

Looking at other food shows, why not just use "Tanner O'Dell Show", "Cooking with Tanner O'Dell"....or "Tanner's Table"?

What types of shows are you going to do? Dinners, desserts? Are you known for a particular style of cooking? All-Amercian, Italian, etc.? That could help with naming the show as well.

Ok, I'll think of more and send them to you.

A BIG congratulations!

Thanks! and what we are trying to do is find my "niche" because they feel i need something other than being a teen cook, since that will eventually not be the case. To me though, having to pick my "niche" so early is like saying I have to limit what I do, which isn't me by the way, haha. I can appeal to all the audiences, so having to file it down and choose it tough!

What is wrong with being a specialty in teen cooking for now, nothing says you have to stay that way, and if nature runs true to its course you won't. At your age you can count on hitting that audience for at least another 4 to 6 years. I would not worry as to the ethnic style for now, especially if you focus on the younger age bracket. Right now I know of no one targeting that age group. I think you would stand a better chance of making the show work, than trying to target an wider age range. Your going to need a good hook maybe something like how to utilize the college kitchens ? or make your girl swizzle with fine dining, prepared by none other than yourself. You have the looks for TV, so you should do well. Good Luck !

That is a great angle, ibcheft! Target the teens/college age that need help. Many have not a clue how to cook and preparing dishes that would appeal to them, and be easy, is needed.

When daughter was in college years ago, none of her friends knew how to cook unless it came out of a box or can. She was asked quite often to 'teach' them and she would have dinner parties for that reason. It was a huge success!

What was unfortunate was many said their parents never taught them. And, with no home ec in most schools, they never had the opportunity to learn. I had her helping in the kitchen from the time she was walking and has never stopped. She's a fabulous cook!

Anyway, I do think this is an area that you could really do well in. Plus, all these students would follow you as they also become young adults.

Build your audience to grow with you.

Thank you guys so much, and I totally agree ibchef. Thats what i really want to do. I'm going to talk to everyone at the filming and get opinions of all of the guests. We are charging a fee to get into our tailgate, including shirts and hats and food. I'm going to try and put my tshirts on my website so people can buy them. All the procceeds go to the fundraising for the show. Would any of you be interested in buying shirts??
