There is a history here of people putting things across the roads (usually on fire) or cutting down trees so they fall across a road. But most of that happens after the kids would have been done for the night anyway, so I guess maybe they think some people who travel to other areas or go to parties might run into it. But that happens whether people trick or treat earlier or not. So I am not sure it really does help a whole lot. But they seem to think it does.

This topic is actually sort of a hobby of mine. As I am not terribly interested in the tabloids and whatnot, I often look at what other people are buying while waiting in the checkout line. Many a time I have seen a whole family of enormous people, often with more than one cart filled to overflowing.

Almost inevitably, those carts are laden with junk food. Usually low-fat junk food, to boot. "Baked, not Fried!" chips, low-fat or no-fat cookies, and so on. And, gallons of soda. No fat in soda, right? So it must be healthy.

Usually the slender people I see are buying food that isn't processed. Meats, fresh veggies, and so on.

Of course, there are exceptions, this is just a sort of personal "on average" observation.

I agree...it's like people ordering the super-sized meal and then get a diet soda because it has less calories.

(I know many just prefer diet soda, but I have heard people justify this 'less calorie' thing before.)

No kidding! Good thing I didn't ask her if she needed assistance. Honestly, I have never heard those sounds before. Probably why she was buying it....maybe it was broken and wasn't suppose to sound like that.

Okay I tried to be sneaky or find abandoned carts where someone had gone to another aisle. Sorry the photos aren't so great for that reason but we can see what we can make of them.
