What Are You Handing Out for Halloween?

What are you handing out for Halloween? We usually get over 100 trick or treaters.

Fruit candy seems to the most popular out here. We give out the full-size candy and have become 'known' for that and my decorating.

Also put orange lights on the bushes leading up to the door and do some sort of display. I love this holiday!

Today I bought some candies that are not the normal...big Nerds all stuck together to form a big stick-type thing. I had a few of those last year and they went first. My daughter told me that anything bright red or colorful will go before something wrapped in brown. Many of the candy bars are wrapped in brown and, even though we give out the big bars, they are the last to go. I let the trick or treaters pick out their own candy. I usually get about 7 different things.

One year we had over 230 come to the door. The last two years it has dwindled to about 100-125. Lots of the kids have grown up in the neighborhood and don't go out any longer. Kind of sad.

We usually only have 15 to 20 kids. They don't like climbing hills around here I guess.

That's sad...I would be so disappointed if we didn't have any trick or treaters. I've been contemplating what I'm going to dress as. Last year almost every adult who came to the door with children were in costume. At least in this neighborhood Halloween is a fun event.

In a couple of weeks they will have the giant pumpkin regatta on the lake in town. That is very fun to watch. Most of the participants dress up to match the theme of their giant pumpkin.

Then, after the regatta, we are off to the potato farm for the Potato Festival and down the road is the apple orchard with their festival! It's a big harvest weekend of stuff to do. Can you tell I love this time of year? I know, I've mentioned it a hundred times...sorry.

Maybe it's just a sign of the times, kids used to be able to go up to everyone's door with a few exceptions. Now I am afraid to let my kids out of my sight.
