What food means Christmas to you?

Is there something special you have had a family tradition of either buying or making since your childhood? Do you remember anything a grandparent always served that just isn't the same now if they have passed on?

The cookies that my Aunt Kate would make. She would bring them over in a shoebox lined with wax paper. The Italian fig cookies were a big tradition. I made them last year and they were pretty close to Aunt Kate's but will never be the same.

My dad's mother always makes pumpkin roll. It's breakfast for the week between Christmas and New Year for us. She is 85 years old. I hope it's not getting to difficult for her. I know she will do it as long as she can.

Christmas was always by my Grandparents house. A full house. This year its by my Uncle's and not a full house.

Ok, I need to add this...fruitcake. I know many don't like it, but a really good fruitcake is so Christmas to me. I love the candied fruit and pecans with a touch of brandy. The Trappest Monks make the best one. And, the best fudge is made by the Brigittine Monks in Amity, Oregon. Both are holiday favorites!
