Check Out the New Top Chef Contestants

Does it ever seem that, when it comes to reality shows, there's just an endless cycle of new "seasons?" Mrs. TVFF watches that America's Next Top Tyra Banks Ego Trip and I swear that they've run about 14 "seasons" during the past six years.

I guess that, if the show is at least good, a new season is worthy of some anticipation. And so, with another Top Chef on the way, it's time to look forward.

Fortunately, the folks at yumsugar have a slideshow of all of this season's contestants, so you can get the lay of the land. This year features the usual assortment of tough guys who will likely get into an argument, cute chefs who stick around much longer than their talent can justify and the obligatory faux-hawk or two.

The end of the slideshow also lets us know that we'll be getting Tom, Padma, Gail and Ted back this season.

Fun stuff. The new season, its fourth, debuts on March 12.

'Top Chef' taps 3 with local ties for Bravo TV hit

"Top Chef" buzz in Chicago has been building among fans since the announcement last July that the No. 1 cable food show would film in the Windy City, recognizing our status as one of the best culinary cities in the nation. The blogosphere, locally -- including the Stew -- and nationally, was rabid with sightings, gossip and tips from dozens of Stew readers as the chefs fought it out in challenges around town.
Now Bravo has announced the Season 4 contestants, confirming long-circulating rumors about at least one, Stepahnie Izard. In total, Chicago "Top Chef" fans will have three chefs with local ties to cheer on when the "Top Chef: Chicago" premieres March 12.
The show’s fourth season, which was filmed in Chicago last summer and fall, according to Bravo, will include:
Izard, 31, (photo above) formerly chef/owner of Scylla in Bucktown, who closed and sold her place to take a break, and apparently star on the show. Izard, originally from Stamford, Conn., lives in Chicago and says she loves cooking with seafood.

Valerie Bolon, 32, (photo right) Chicago-born and bred, is a Kendall College Culinary Arts grad and currently a personal chef. She loves to travel and to incorporate influences from those travels into her cooking.

Dale Talde, 29, (photo left) born and raised in Chicago, is now a chef at Buddakan in New York. Dale had worked at Vong’s Thai Kitchen in Chicago and has worked with Carrie Nahabedian of Naha and Shawn McClain of Spring, Green Zebra and Custom House. He has a Filipino background and focuses on Asian flavors.

That reminds me.

One of my son's, when he was in second grade, didn't tell us it was picture day. When we did receive the picture, his hair was done like Ed Grimley. Way funny back then. I can still see the look on my wife's face.
