Your Life Calling

We have so many people on this site with incredible occupations.
Some we know about, others we don't.

What do you do for a career, for fun, or what are your interests?

Seeing as many people don't fill out the Personal Profile, maybe we can just share here instead.

It would be nice if they filled out the profile.

What do I do? You're looking at it.

I'll eventually get the profile filled out!

I am currently a grocery store cake decorator. After years of retail management (bakery manager) I needed a break, some would be shocked at how much stress that retail managers are put under in some situations, all while being paid fairly poorly for the privilege. I needed the panic attacks to stop and the constant throbbing headaches, so I left my employer and became a cake decorator for another.

I am in a unique situation, I work for a big chain of smaller format grocery stores, I travel between 4-5 stores making cakes all day, enough to hopefully last them until the next week when I come, I average 150 to 200 cakes per week, I can do more, but don't need to. Where I live there are grocery stores on every corner, and I have to travel no more than 7 miles to get to my 5 stores.

This was supposed to be a temporary gig, because the pay is kinda meager, but I have come to enjoy my job so much, that I am still there over two years later.

This may not be a glamorous occupation, but it pays the bills for now, and I enjoy going to work every day!

Well, right now, I'm night-time host of a Country Music radio show. My ratings went in the toilet this period, so I may not be for much longer! LOL!

Meanwhile, I share this wonderful forum...thank you!

Hey if you are happy then that's the way to live your life. Too many people hate what they do. Do what you love and you can live long and happy.

Doug I hope you can find something you love and not have to worry about that job.

Thank you Sweet Suzie! Actually I love DOING THIS! Radio has been my career longer than a lot of people have been alive!

I cannot imagine any other occupation. I've done a LOT of odd jobs, cooking being one of them. The time I was in charge of a small restaurant/snack bar was the worst, and I almost swore NEVER to pick up another pan. It was the first and only time I was ever tempted to throw hot grease on someone.

I have done telemarketing...I was fired for cussing out someone I called. I was once a tech support for Apple Computer. I was fired for imcompetence. I did landscaping, I was fired for almost having a heart attack. Not cut out for THAT, LOL!

Nope...Radio or nothing.

This, of course, means I'll have to move again, if I find another gig. I won't be far from this forum, though. I think I'm addicted...

Again, thank you Suzie...(OFF TOPIC...) Whew...I ain't feelin' too good...I was on-air, and felt a brown-out coming on...wow...that's never happened.

Cold sweat...weak...I need a break...(sittin' still for a moment)

Not feelin' the best ever....maybe I better call it a night...a bit early, but I've got a thirty mile drive...

Later, y'all!

George Burns once said something to the effect, "I'd rather be doing something I love for little money, than something I hate for a lot of money."

As long as you love what you do, enjoy!
