Rep Power: 2 | What's your latest 'disaster'? I borrowed Patti LaBelle's latest cookbook from the library last week and saw an interesting bread pudding recipe that I made today. I should preface it by saying I knew going in that it probably wouldn't turn out as good as my own recipe and I was right. What was I looking for.....a miracle?? A stick and a half of butter does not belong in a bread pudding recipe, nor does a cup and a half of sugar. I only used one stick but that didn't help it at all. It turned out all puffy and brown but, once out of the oven, deflated like a souffle after the oven door was slammed shut. The only edible part was the browned top. Anything under that layer was a sodden mess. All that sugar melted and was laying in puddles on the bottom. I've come to the conclusion that every section of the country has their own versions of a recipe and you get used to eating it that way; anything else is foreign.

Rep Power: 10 | I had a cornbread raise more than I thought it was and it spilled over a bit and burned on the bottom of the oven. |

Rep Power: 2 | It would have to be the exploding potato! There wasn't an inch of the oven that didn't have potato shrapnel on it.

Rep Power: 2 | last one was my butter milk biscuits, the recipe was wrong. No way should it have been a 1 1/4 cup of butter milk, maybe a 1/4 cup even after adding enough flour to roll them out, which added almost 3 more cups of flour they tasted really flat |

Rep Power: 2 | My favorite 'disaster' was of a different variety. When my daughters were young, I'd made a complete Chinese dinner, all homemade; stir-fry, rice, egg foo yung and egg rolls. That was the first time I'd ever made egg rolls and they turned out perfect. Well, the kids had already set the table (as it was their job), and as hubby was pulling into the driveway....(he'd always call when he left work so he could sit down to dinner as soon as he walked in the door---yes, another time, another era, but that's another story)....I set all the serving plates on the table. The kids were filling the glasses with our drinks and, as they set them on the table, one fell over and hit one of the serving dishes and broke into smithereens, sending shattered glass over the entire table. That night we had McDonald's. The other one, which my kids still laugh about today every time someone mentions root beer floats, was also when the kids were young. I was making us root beer floats and we liked them thick so I had to spoon out ice cream into the tall glasses and pour a little bit of root beer in at a time, stirring to blend it all. It was time consuming just to make one and I had to make three so I had a brainstorm and got out my Tupperware shaker. Ha-ha-ha! After just a few seconds of shaking it, the lid blew off the top (even though my finger was securely pressed onto it) and root beer and ice cream shot out all over my kitchen window, the curtains and the ceiling. We laughed so hard we almost wet ourselves.
