Has anyone done this....?

Was making creamed orzo on Monday. :-( Thought I'd try a bit to make sure it tasted good. Holy **it! Was I sorry. It was burning the inside of mouth and I made the mistake of swollowing the burning hot orzo. It has been 7 days and it still hurts to swallow. Has this happened to you? If so, what did you do to get better?

Why did you swallow?

I have burned my mouth before but not throat too. You could try the stuff that numbs baby's gums when they are teething.

I don't know why I swallowed. I was in a panic. It hurts like a son of a gun.
I have been taking advil and am trying to be careful what I eat. Anything sharp (toast) and hard (nuts) or hot (tea) is so painful. I have been drinking my tea lukewarm. Eat only soft food. Yesterday my hubby and I went out, the kids were away. Wanted something to eat, so I ordered a side of butternut squash. Poor me. I am feeling sorry for myself. Lesson learned.

Ice water should help. Eat yogurt, it has great healing power.

Thank you for the suggestions. Willl try. I can't believe it still hurts. The pain in my throat is causing pain in my ear.

Wonder if you developed a blister down your throat? Sounds horrible, but you may want to have it checked out.

That is what I am thinking. It really stinks. Daughter and I are going to NYC on Wednesday and I am afraid it might still hurt. If not better by morning, will go to the doctors.
I can't believe I was so stupid.
