    Hurricane Paloma

Well we have another major hurricane, Paloma. Paloma is currently a Cat 4 with 115kt sustained winds, and could strengthing a bit more before hitting Cuba (Those poor folks just can't get a break). Once Paloma gets into the Bahamas, things start getting a wee bit murky. In fact the models are all over the place on the projected track. The trough that is pushing Paloma northeast, lifts out of the way which could cause Paloma to boomerang. The good news is that crossing Cuba will cause Paloma to weeken, and once in the Bahamas Paloma will move into an area of increasing shear, and lower Sea Surface temps, and lower Ocean Heat content. This make significant re-strengthening unlikely. Stay tuned for more.

The season doesn't end until Nov. 30th. Guess it had to get just one more in. Poor Cuba has really been getting it this season.

Yes, they've pretty much gotten ravaged.

It's been a fairly active season.

And the sad part about it all is that there is only a 5-month rest period before it starts all over again in April!!

Well, really the season starts June 1st, not April. I don't think you have to worry too much about them up in Boston. Here, they're just something you deal with when you live down here.
