Rep Power: 1 | Shuttle launched tonight The shuttle went up tonight while I was eating peel-and-eat shrimp at the Fourth Street Shrimp Store in St. Petersburg. I couldn't see it from my table (it was pretty cloudy) but the waiter said he saw it.
Here's the a St. Petersburg Times photographer's view from downtown St. Pete: A picture-perfect shuttle launch |

Rep Power: 1 | Re-entry I'd say we're at least 100 miles away from the launch pad.
What's really cool is being close enough to feel/hear the sonic boom when it's coming in for a landing! If you're anywhere near the Cape (Orlando area, even) you can hear it BOOM. |

Rep Power: 3 | The DH and I took a tour of the Cape many years ago and enjoyed it. They showed the launch during the pre-race stuff for tonight's CTS race at Homestead-Miami.

Rep Power: 1 | I wonder if they are carrying plenty of that freeze dried ice cream. I bought some of that at the NASA gift shop once and it wasn't that bad. |

Rep Power: 1 | Mmmmm. Tang. I remember a little blue moonlander toy in the Cheerios box. At least I think I remember. |
