McDonald's comeback surprises experts

McDonald's comeback surprises experts

By DAVE CARPENTER, AP Business WriterSat Sep 22, 12:54 PM ET

It wasn't so long ago that the McDonald's fast-food empire looked as stale as a burger left under a heat lamp too long.
Sales were decreasing, new products weren't catching on and McDonald's Corp. was vilified by consumer activists, nutritionists and others as Americans got fatter and fatter. Even its seemingly bulletproof stock staggered to barely $12 a share in 2003.
Now, thanks to a combination of improved menus, better marketing and deft management, business is cooking like never before.
The comeback may not be news to anyone who has queued up at a McDonald's drive-through recently. But the fact that the sales resurgence not only continues to sizzle after more than four years but has spread internationally is a surprise to experts.

I don't like any of those places, but will eat there if I'm really hungry.

The yogurt with fruit is really good but I'm sure it has more sugar in it than if you made it at home.

I don't think their hamburgers taste like real meat.

I like McDonalds...but I won't eat their meat/chicken. I like their fish sandwiches with lotsa tartar sauce. Delish. Oh, and their Shamrock and Egg Nog shakes are tasty too. Hmmm...their fries are good too. Ha ha

I totally agree, they gross me out... the weirdest thing though... every once in a while I'll just crave one... i used to love the little tiny onions they'd put and I'll have to go get one to satisfy my craving... about halfways through the burger I'll realize it tastes like cardboard and throw it away (or feed it to a stray animal lol)

Its the weirdest thing and I tell myself each time i won't like it when i get it... but i can't help myself. It's been at least six months since my last attack.

Kinda like prefer White Castles everyonce in while just have to have 10 of those greasy burgers. other than that what a burger takes the hungry pangs for a quick going down the road burger.
