I usually don't even pay attention to what is on the bill unless it seems like it's too high.

I always tell them. In fact, last night we went out to eat and our bill was short by $35.00...they left off one dinner. We told our server and she was very happy we were so honest. I think some of them have to cough up the money if it is their error...how horrible would that be? Honestly is the best policy in my book.

I did have a woman at the grocery store put my check in the bag with my receipt. I took it back. Usually the only time I pay at a food place though is if I am getting something to take home. I never go out to eat alone and my husband always pays the bill if we go out.

A few months ago I was out to eat with friends and the server had left the soup off the bill. I nagged my friends until they mentioned it to her, and she said it was ok it was our lucky day. But I felt it was important to mention it.

If it is just a soda I *forget* to tell them...but if it is a whole entree or appetizer, then I will tell them.

I'm with BerryBaby and go with total honesty. How would I ever be able to return to a restaurant if I knew I'd cheated the server.
