I think they sat on some of them before taking the pictures.

With sausage McMuffin, it is very clear they used a smaller muffin on the top for the ad.
One time, a long time ago, I went into McDonald's and ordered something, I forget. Anyway, I said, "I want it to look exactly like the one on TV."
