America's Best - and Worst! - Restaurants

Eating out invariably raises a number of tricky questions: sit-down or drive-thru? Burgers or pizza? Thin or stuffed crust? And if you're dining with your family, add the biggest question of all: Will the food we eat today bring a fatter tomorrow for our kids? And fewer tomorrows for the rest of us?

this was surprising

I am glad to see that my McDonalds ranked pretty high. I like their Happy Meals. Just enough food to make me happy. :P

Makes me wonder how many people are feeding their kids this stuff so often that it matters? I mean everyone can splurge occasionally but if you are doing this every week then it might be an issue. My kids have fast metabolisms it burns right off of them and they are both thin. I have noticed that the kids where both parents work are heavier at my son's school. I wonder if fast food has become a standard meal for many of them?

I think they just gave them an F because they don't offer their stats on the food.

I'm not giving up my Olive Garden salad and bread sticks no matter what.

I would say as long as you don't eat there every day you will be okay. I like the Olive Garden too.

We frequent Chick-fil-A because it is so easy to make good choices. Their fried chicken sandwich is not even all that damaging. They have a grilled chicken sandwich with 3 grams of fat, and a grilled chicken club that includes bacon for under 400 calories and it is a big sandwich. They offer light mayo, fresh fruit cups, and sugar free lemonade, all really good. Their quality is usually top notch as well, they are one of the few places where the chicken is pretty much not processed and formed to a uniform shape.

We don't have any fast food places here in the boonies but there's a sandwich/burger shack down at the beach that probably just as bad.
