Restaurant closed after dead deer found in kitchen

AP - 1 hour, 22 minutes ago HAMBURG, N.Y. - Health officials shut down a suburban Buffalo restaurant after an inspector found employees butchering a dead deer inside the business. Erie County Health Department officials said they got a tip Friday about a dead deer in the China King restaurant in the town of Hamburg, just south of Buffalo.

I am thinking that's better than a live deer.

    Weird.

On my way to work this evening we turned a corner through the forest preserve and right there in the worst possible spot was a young male deer. Just standing there. We stopped in time. He sort of looked at us for a few seconds and then trotted off back into the woods. The guy behind us was beeping at us. I'm assuming he didn't see it, but why else would he think we had stopped in the middle of the road. What did he want us to do, run the thing down?

We have a small herd (about 14-16) of deer around here and they think they own the road. Got to be on the look out for them because they'll just stand there in the road, look at you and not move. Guess they figure they have the right of way.

There's this one doe that stand on the shoulder of the road and watches you as you drive by whether you in your car or on your bike. It's like she waiting to say "hi" when you pass by her.

Sometimes deer attack people for what seems like apparently no reason.

They can do irrepairable iinjury and damage to property when they get mad.

I bet there are more than 50 on my hill. Early morning and late evening you really have to watch. I don't know what they are going to do. You can't hunt them in the city limits. The DNR might have to come round them up. Seems like I saw at least 10 with babies and one had twins. If this keeps up they will be in the 100's in no time.

Our little herd is growing too. Bunch of babies (also have see one set of twins), but haven't got a count on them yet. Last year one of the gators got one of the babies.

When I lived in Maine, there was a herd that lived beside the store. A bunch of them would cross the road every morning and go to Dunkin' Donuts, stand at the drive through and wait for the workers to toss donuts out to them! In all the years that they did this, I never heard of a car hitting one of them, most people knew to look out for them. This area was a wildlife sanctuary so they were never hunted.
