Reservations

There is a restaurant we love to go to. We enjoy the food and can't wait until we return. But here is our complaint. Even when you make reservations you still have to wait. We will make reservations for say 6:30, we get there about 6:20-6:25 and won't get seated until close to 7. Last time we went we had reservations for 5, we waited a few minutes and then they seated us at a table for 4 with a chair stuck on the end. We said we would rather wait for a table for 5. So we waited a good half hour and ended up at another table for 4 with a chair stuck on the end.

The fact that we still look forward to going there is a testament to their food, and I always made excuses for them (probably because I love the food so much ) on why we had to wait all the time but even I'm getting mad about it.

So what do you guys think, is it worth the inconveniences or should we move on?

It's not very nice of them to treat people that way. But if they are that busy it's probably why try to get as many people at tables they can. They must be doing so well that it doesn't impact them.

5 is a large group, if they know you are coming, they should be a little more hospitable. But if you leave happy with your meal then only you can decide if it's worth it.

Once I've made reservations there and found that out once I got there, well, that'd be the last time I go there.

Umm, as a matter of fact, I'd probably walk right back out the door and leave them holding the bag!!

If they can't meet your schedule after you've faithfully made reservations to be seated at a particular time, and once you've gotten over there, you're still forced to wait that long, then they don't care about you and don't want your business!!

Say bye-bye and walk out. There are other fish in the sea!!

I think that if you have a reservation that they should honor it in a timely manner.

Well at least you know what to expect from this place, I would just not do it if you have a large group as waiting with a group can be a pain. I find that when I love the food somewhere, I can overlook a few things, but eventually stop going because of these things (does that make sense?), in today's economy places like this need to wake up, and realize that at any time they could be out of business, today is when those places that stand out as stellar will survive.

Sometimes you can be seated later than your reservation because the people who are at the table before your group are a wee bit slower getting out than the restaurant planned. But, it shouldn't happen every time. I guess its just boils down to how much you like the food and if it's worth the extra wait whether you go back or move on. Have you every asked why they are late getting you to your table? At least, they should offer you a free glass of wine or a app for not having your table ready on time.

One time at one of our reg. restaurants, we had to wait a while past our reservation time, but the reason was they were short-handed that night (some of the servers didn't show up) and it was just taking them longer to get all of the tables serviced with the reduced staff.

Usually, If and when I'm at a restaurant with friends and waiting for ther rest of the party to show up, we usually order some drinks while waiting. We give them enough time to show up, and if it looks as though they are not coming, we then ask to be seated.

Most of the fancy places I've been to, reservations arn't needed. But I DO make sure that I'm propoerly attired for the event.

And if it looks as though I'm not going to be seated in a timely fashion, I'm out of there!

Why not make your reservations a half hour earlier? I do this with places that I know people will linger at their tables. Establishments can only do so much to hurry people along.

If I have to wait longer than the designated reservation time, oh well. I'm out to enjoy myself and just think that people at the tables are doing the same.

You have to be the judge on what your tolerance is...wait and have fabulous food, or get seated at a place right away and have so-so food.

Personally, I'd wait. I'm going out for the food, not just to be fed whatever. If I didn't care, I'd go to a drive-thru.
