I am sad to say we mostly have chains here. There is a Mexican place we go to that's independently owned (at least I think it is), and a Japanese Steak house that's pretty good, but kinda pricey for this area. Other than that we have things like the Olive Garden ... Red Lobster etc.
And there are some of the Diner type places if you want deep fried and covered in gravy.

Most of our top line restaurants are down in the Galleria area, Landry's Aquarium, Vic and Anthony's and closer to use is Salt Grass Steak House, reasonable price and good food, although there are several around Houston it is owned by Landry's, they have quite a few different styles and prices range restaurants but all top of the line. Looks like we might get some new ones right down the road, the Grand Parkway is coming out right down the road, with a new shopping center going in, suppose to have four high end restaurants with a river going around it that will offer boat rides with dinner. The signs are up and suppose to be a multi million dollar project, with million sq ft center. Also coming up is Dino World right across the hwy, educational park with a museum.

I'm in Orlando, FL. Eating out is somewhat of a challenge here for a couple of reasons...
1. We're in the middle of tourist central. While we have access to every chain restaurant imaginable, the prices are through the roof because of our location. To find a reasonably priced restaurant, we have to travel 30 - 40 minutes away.
2. I have a lot of food allergies and have to be really careful about where and what I eat. I'm allergic to legumes, including soy (which is in everything!).
We mainly eat at Disney restaurants. I get a discount, and they have a solid system for serving guests with food allergies - I trust them. And the chefs bend over backwards to give you a great dining experience despite the "handicap."
I have to give props to Macaroni Grill though. They have a great allergy plan, too, and we'll eat there once in a while because of it.
