Disappointing Dinner Out

It's been a long time since I've found a restaurant that's consistently good with food quality and service. My husband and I knew of one restaurant that fit the bill... until our anniversary night Friday, when that one fell off too. It's a locally owned upscale casual seafood place. We always raved about the great food and great prices, and hadn't been there in about two years. Well, we went back over the weekend and I ordered a glass of wine. It never came. Server kept walking by tending to other tables. Got my salad. Bit down on something that felt like sand in my mouth. Turns out it was muddy dirt under my lettuce. Had to flag down another waitress. Manager gave me that forgotten glass of wine on the house. Server tried to blame it on the bar.

Anyway, that's my rant for the day....

We don't have a lot of independent places here. I remember when Chi-chi's Mexican restaurant chain first came here. It was the first kind of restaurant with a bar here (like Applebees, Friday's ect.) Up till then you either went to a bar ... or to a restaurant. When they first started the food was pretty good for a Mexican chain, but then it slowly became like the Frozen food you can get at the grocery store. I don't know why these places think they can cut corners and still keep customers. There is an empty lot where the place was now.

There's a place we like to go to that has really great food, but the service isn't that good. The wait staff is nice enough, but if you have a 7pm reservation you're lucky if you get in at 7:20 or 7:30.

My favorite restaurant now is Jason's Deli. It's a chain, but they're not all over the place. It's cheap, you get a lot for your money, and their chicken panini kicks a$$.

We have Jason's Deli here in the Houston area, have you tried their muffaletta, oh my what a sandwich a half will feed two to three people easy. We get them to bring home every once in awhile, speaking of which maybe Thursday would be a good day for that

yes she loves it, but she does not know what they put on the sandwich for spices, and she doesn't watch them make it, so she will not complain about that, nor any place we eat out, it is only when she knows what spices I use that she complains about them. If I could get her to stay out of the kitchen when I am cooking, I could spice stuff but she keeps walking through, and looking at my spice containers to see what I am using, then she will go I do not like that oh well I try is all I can say

We have Jason's deli here, i like it very much, I wish that they would build more of them. I like how they have removed all trans fats and are getting rid of high fructose corn syrup. This is one chain that seems to be focused on quality and value more than many chains out there.

I really enjoy their sandwich "bird to the wise" it is a layer of hot pastrami, some roasted turkey and another layer of pastrami, it is HUGE!

Jason's Deli also has awesome blue cheese dressing. It's chunky and flavorful.
