He is such a nice guy. Despite how he is on TV he seems very shy in person. Probably unless he knows someone well. Can't blame him though. I guess he has millions of people who feel like they know him and he doesn't know what to think of them.

I met Emeril at a book signing and was struck by the very same thing - how quiet he is, and how everyone feels like they know him! He was very sweet to everyone, especially a challenged young lady in a wheelchair in front of me. He took extra time with her and wasn't put off at all; having a sister with Downs Syndrome, it made quite an impression on me. Not everyone has that kind of combination of patience and goodness that he had with her that day.
