Can't believe people are just now getting it about going green. I've been doing my part since the early 60's and I was just a teenager! Wonder what the world would be like if everyone had started back then.

Unfortunately I think they hit the nail on the head with this story for a lot of the stuff being sold now.
I don't think it's so much about going green for them as it is trying to guilt people into spending a ton of money to somehow insure the greenness. It probably shouldn't cost you a fortune to do things more natural but somehow they are finding a way to make it trendy enough to pay double just to show you are.Marketers seek gold

I have always tried to be a conservationist, sometime it is just not cost effective.

Well let's stay out of the government/political realm of this (see Forum Rules). I agree many companies are using this as an excuse to raise the price. You would think organic would be less since they don't have to buy chemicals like they do with the regular produce and other unaltered or natural stuff.

Ok, not just products, but using food leftovers can help as well.
I never throw out leftovers. I find other ways to incorporate them into a new dish. Like today, I had leftover pasta, diced tomatoes, olives and I added fresh mozzarella, garlic seasoning and Italian herbs. It was great!
Maybe I should write a short book about never having to toss leftovers. You can really get creative and save a ton a $$'s over the year.

That's true, and there are lots of folks very genuine about doing their part and that's good. I think everyone wants to live as clean and natural as possible, for their own personal wellbeing and what they can do for others. But as with anything someone will try to cash in where they shouldn't. The best thing people can do is educate themselves on what really will make a difference.

Going green is overrated, in my view -- but God Bless those who enjoy it. I agree with things such as recycling and not being excessive, etc, but some of this "green" stuff is over the top.
That said, I like the concept of the new Emeril show.
