This morning's check on Hanna shows a course change to the south, centering more on the GA coast and going to hurricane level on Thursday. Then, we've got those two other potentials right behind her. I'll be glad when Sept has come and gone for that's our worst month in hurricane season.

Guess I better go over my list of what to take if we end up having to leave for any of these storms. Helps to have a check list.

Right now Hanna is experiencing pretty hefty shear, so that's inhibiting intensification. But, as she gets closer to CONUS the upper air model forecasts have a ridge, which will draw her westward and then a trough which could cause her to be a coast hugger. If she follows the projected path, she may enter an area of decreasing shear, and that may allow her to intensify to a CAT 1. Of course, it's way too early to be sure of what she is going to do. The atmosphere has a habit of doing what it wants, models notwithstanding.

I see NOAA just up-dated their 5 day forecast cone for Hanna. Show her hitting the GA coast around Savannah on Friday afternoon as a hurricane. That's 2 hours south of me. She going to bear keeping a close eye on.

For those interested in the current tropical situation, I have opened a new thread under the clicker called TS Hanna, so we don't clog this one with Hanna or Gustav met info.

After getting stuck in traffic for 22 hours only to travel 89 miles during Hurricane Rita, we are so, so grateful to live more inland and not in Houston anymore. Our Reed Arena in College Station was set up Friday night (just as soon as the Bill Cosby concert was over), to house people fleeing. This almost seems like deja vu, as I remember the Astrodome was converted to "Dome City" which the USPS even gave it's own temporary zip code to. Amazing how these things seem to be getting more powerful and more frequent.

Anyway, back to the topic, Emeril has (3) places in New Orleans? Really?
