Botonio, the new trend for Food Network ?
I am going to write a blog, but also decided to do some research and found, I am not the only one, who is seeing what I call money in the pocket over rides Network original goals.
Here is a link to an article which I found impressive to say the least, but it is written with truth. The writer says alot about the way I feel. Matthew Greenberg - Worst Episode Ever – Memo to Food Network: Your programming is going rancid - True/Slant
I for one will not accept a show because it is not the same old cookie cutter cook slapping things together, now we have retired skaters showing us how to and not doing very well at that to make Hors d orves, for a group of roller derby girls and a group of ladies he put together to hook up for his buddies girl friend and we accept it because the guy is funny ? not because it is a good cooking show, not because it teaches us, not because he is an accredit chef, only for the fact that it is entertaining. I am not believing that we have sunk that low, but than I guess if your good looking you can sell anything and people will buy it. I know some of you like him, thats alright, but put the show where it belongs, on the comedy channel. I guess the more the network grows the less it will do to live up to the motive it started with, and that was to teach us how to cook with dignity and pride, good taste and skills that had been tested and tried. By educated and trained chefs who could answer your questions with your knowledge that they knew what they were saying. I will keep writing about this in hopes that maybe some one from the network might read it, and at least think about, what they have done to get the dollar in the wallet.
prepared with passion and served with love !
I do not cook to live, but live to cook !

Except for a few shows, FN hasn't been much about actually cooking since Tuschman took over programing. It's more of a Food Entertainment Network with a few cooking shows thrown in. As long as the "powers that be" are still there and the ratings are going up, we can look forward to no changes.
I still say FN (or someone) should start a sister network that is geared to just cooking and air some of the classic ol' cooking shows. Just like ESPN has ESPN Classics. Most of all, cook from the heart, and you’ll never be lonely when the dinner bell rings! - Chef Robert Irvin
