This is GREAT news. I am not at all surprised Melissa's contract was renewed. She hit the ground running on her very first show. I've made most of her recipes, and each one is a star. I could watch her for hours. Melissa is genuine, sincere, and inspirational.

I watched her show again this week, it sorta reminds me of an early RR, only thing is I got tired of RR in about 4 weeks, and Melissa has been on 4 weeks and her voice is already starting to grate on me, she said something this week, I forget what it was, but I thought oh no, no more of that. Oh it was when she put the onions in the delicious pork fat I about croaked, the way she said pork fat was delicious. The way she said it, sounded like just take a spoon full of grease and eat it. I am glad there are people who like the show. The network needs another home cook.

prepared with passion and served with love !

Good for her. I forgot to watch her again this week. I think thats a bad time slow.

I'm still hoping for a Jeffrey show though.

ibcheft, I completely agree with you about the pork fat. Melissa does, indeed, use a lot of it and butter in her dishes. I adjusted most of her recipes to eliminate or drastically reduce the amount of it. Saturated fat is a BIG no-no for me, and will only use it sparingly.

BTW, while I'm far from being a "home cook," I do enjoy watching Melissa prepare her meals. There are several show hosts, such as Giada, that are graduates of various culinary institutes, who are boring, egotistical, and repetitive. Melissa possesses qualities that, in my opinion, will be an asset to many at various levels.

Melissa is going to have an appeal with moms that Rachael doesn't have. I can see that being her biggest base.

Although she is a mother of 4 children, I have seen nothing in her show that is geared toward the kids, all her dishes seemed to be adult based and if she has four children, you would think her showed would be dinner for six under $15.00. I think she did mention they go through 10 gal of milk a week, but comes out with a 1/2 gallon container, I was thinking why bother mentioning the milk usage if your not going to back it up with a gallon jug. Maybe by the time they get the 13 episodes done, it will get better. I am not holding my breath though.

I think the majority of households have 2 to 3 children. Maybe they are focusing on that.

First you mentioned your far from being a home cook ? so I take it you are a chef or you can't cook at all but than if I read your signature I would say you are quite skilled at cooking. As far as Giada goes I do not think it is because of culinary school training that she is boring egotistical and repetitive I believe that comes from her being a rich spoiled child, she basically had anything she wanted from her Granddaddy. But than that is no excuse to act that way, but we know most spoiled rich kids do. So I agree with you about Giada, it takes about six month and she is cooking the same thing again, and most of it well it is alright but not for everyone.
