My discussion with Ingrid Hoffman about her new Milk Ad
Last week I had the opportunity to speak with Ingrid about her new "milk mustache" ad. If you have the latest issue of Food Network Magazine you can see it there. Ingrid was thrilled to do this particular photo shoot and actually contacted the advertisers herself. She views these advertisements as a classic American culture icon, and she wanted to be a part of it. Ingrid often uses milk in her recipes and even finds fun ways for children to enjoy low fat milk. A little skim milk in the blender with some ice and M&M candies and the kids will get all the vitamins and nutrients from the milk with a little added fun, but not the high calories of a milkshake. As important as it is for women to make milk a part of their diet and maintain strong bones, it's great to see female stars do these ads. And it's fun to see all the mouths they choose. Steven Tyler being one of my personal favorites.
I asked Ingrid about her Food Network show and if she had a preference for a specific style of cuisine. While she does love the foods she grew up with she likes to explore all aspects of Latin cooking, pointing out that there are many similarities and many differences as well. Most Americans view tortillas as the Mexican corn and flour shells, but for her it is an egg dish. She is however open to Americanizing or mixing the cultures for the American palate. She points out that even the classic American Cheese burger will get a Latin twist in her kitchen, adding Chorizo to the ground beef and topping with a spicy cheese.
Ingrid Hoffman can be seen on the Food Network as well as the Latin Network. She encouraged me to watch the Latin Network show to learn a little Spanish. She often shows the item she is talking about and the viewer can pick up a lot simply following along.
If you would like to ask Ingrid a question, she will be answering questions on the Why Milk Website September 9th at 2PM, Ask Ingrid
Or at 3PM on the Spanish website. http://www.eligeleche.com/

I never heard of the Latin Network, I wonder if we have it.
Those who forget the pasta are condemned to reheat it.

Ingrid is a doll! I eagerly watched her weekly shows until I no longer received the east coast feed on DirecTv. Her shows air too early for me now.

Maybe she meant on the Latin Network. I am not seeing an afternoon listing on FN.

If I understood DirecTv' site, most, if not all, of the Latin channels must be subscribed to...meaning customers can elect to subscribe to a Latin package, whereas you and I have the English packages. I could be wrong, though!
