| Nothing new here. I made my daughter really healthy lunches when she was in school and that was over 20 years ago when I started.
I must commend Robin for her limiting certain things like soda. My parents did that with us back in the 50's. Soda was a maybe once a week treat on a Saturday after dinner. My dad would buy a quart of cherry soda and vanilla ice cream and make us floats. What a treat!
We were brought up that water was the drink, if we were thirsty. Milk was only with a meal.
It's up to parents to direct their children into good eating habits. When our daughter was five we let her order her meal by herself. It never really changed...it was "a petite filet, medium rare with a salad and dressing on the side." Needless to say, the servers were usually quite taken at her ordering skills and what she would order.
Good for you, Robin!
