Scripps Co., the parent company of the Naples Daily News, said Thursday its third-quarter profit rose 21 percent, primarily on growth at HGTV, the Food Network and Scripps' other television networks that Scripps plans to spin off into a separate company next year.

The spin off makes a lot of sense.
The newspaper revenue is falling like a rock, allover the country.
That dilutes the overall results of the thriving TV and Video production piece of Scripps empire.
The new split may give the TV networks more money to invest in programming.

Maybe we will see Donald Trump and George Steinbrenner against Martha Stewart and Barbara Walters in a new reality show...Geezer Chef

Actually there is a travel channel and Scripps does provide some programming to it. I don't think they "own" it though.
