That probably wouldn't appeal to a wide enough audience.

Maybe not. I guess that's why they rejected the idea of a "Wild Game Show Network"!

What would you like to see on FN

Existing Food Network shows feature recipes that do not always satisfy people with difficult diets. I would love to see a program that would do so. There must be many people with difficult diets that would welcome a show such as this.

As a person with Crohn's disease and a wife who is a renal diabetic, planning meals is very difficult. We both have very restricted diets with different requirements and planning satisfactory menus are a daily challenge. There is a long list of foods, (between us,) we are unable to eat.

More Alton!! Just kidding (or am I?)

Seriously, the cooking for pets idea is awesome! And I'd love to learn how to cook real ethnic food. Food Net has the Italian thing covered, but not much else.

Also, I like to see something on how to cook for diabetics. My mom is diabetic and I adapt a lot of recipes for her, but I would really like to learn more about cooking and nutrition angle. We attended a diabetic cooking class locally and I learned a good bit there and picked up several good recipes.
But I don't think the Food Net is too high on doing this because when I went to Alton's demo in Nashville this summer someone in th audience asked about if he would ever consider developing diabetic-friendly recipes/shows.
Alton said he wanted to but the network was afraid to allow it for legal reasons.

Yesterday I saw a chef making doggie burgers at a BBQ. They looked good and were also good for human consumption....rice, peas, they used garlic which is big NO for dogs..said it was good for them. I think not.

Anyway, I make all my Sophie's food for her. Really is quite good because it is what we eat.

George Stella use to have a cooking show that was healthy, "Low Carb and Loving It". I really enjoyed it but it was pulled for some reason. Juan Carlos Cruz also had a healthy show where he would duplicate recipes using ingredients that were healthier and less calories. That's gone as well.

Now we have processed food, lots of butter and speedy meals that are probably high in calories. A suggestion is buy George's cookbooks. They are wonderful

Ellie Krieger does some of the healthy menus, but her shows do not air often.

She did really good chicken salad rollups yesterday. I printed out the recipe.
I enjoy her shows and I think they are going to have her on daily with the new schedule.

I think that their approach could be improved a little. Instead of just showing how to cook a healthy dish, maybe they could have a special where Ellie toured a grocery store, a real grocery store, not whole foods or some expensive gourmet market. Take viewers through the store showing them healthy choices compared to unhealthy ones, telling them why a product is unhealthy and why another is a better choice.

If you can show people how to stock their cabinets with healthier choices, they will cook healthier foods and it will be easier for them. A vast majority shop in regular supermarkets and get sticker shock when they visit these gourmet or health food markets, knowing that they cannot afford to do their weekly shopping here and are reluctant to shop in two different grocery stores.

We have over 1 million people in this area, and well over 100 grocery stores in a 30 mile radius, only 6 health food markets, so make it more approachable, convenient, and economical and I think people will eat it up!
