Hey how about a show, to help you figure out what your spouse will eat when every time you suggest something They go I don't like that, someone use to make it for us all the time, and then they go what we eat is boring how about something new. I hope the heck I never sounded like that, it is no wonder people quit cooking, now we need a show to help us, because the shows we are getting is the same ole stuff, and people are getting board with it. It is a wonder more people do not get a frying pan side the head. But that is what I want to see is something to HELP me, not the same ole stuff. NOW FOOD NETWORK DO SOMETHING WOULD YOU

I would like to see more programing with real chefs. I think there is certainly a place for the RR's and Aunt Sandys, but I think the schedule has been saddled with too many of these sort of programs.

I don't know if you're speaking of this particular problem in general or whether it's one that you have, LOL. If it's the latter, I think a possible solution would be to get the rest of the family involved in the meal-planning. Have them make a list of what they'd like to have and plan from there. Family members would tend to complain less if they were the one making the decision(s). Also I like the idea of trying one new recipe a week and let the spouse/family have a voice in choosing it.

Even cooking for one as I do, I find I get in a rut sometimes so my New Year's Resolution was to try one or two new recipes per week. I was doing pretty well with it for a couple of months till we had a health crisis in our family so it kind of took a back seat. But I've been able to start again, which has helped a lot with the dinner blah's.

Ok, I have another FN show idea. What about having a show called, "Chef du Jour" where they feature a famous chef each week? ie Todd English, John Besh, to name a couple.

Instead of dishing out lots of $$$$$'s for a contract and one chef, they could do a trade off, in addition to paying them, and they could plug their restaurant(s) and show photos of the restaurant, kitchen, outside.

It would be fun to see their restaurants, plus watch them create one of their featured dishes. Sure would entice people to want to visit their establishments.

What do you think FN?????

Actually both, but alas there is no more family, she said, well cook half of it , I go ya right doesn't work that way, and I hate throwing food out. I think we need a chef to come in not to rescue or fix it but just to come up with food that both of the people will eat, without having to throw half of it out and one either eating junk or like me sometimes just not eat at all. And I love BB's idea also. YA FOOD NETWORK are you listening ?

I thought BB was kidding because there used to be a show in the early days of FN called "Chef du Jour." They've shown Emeril on it and Mario when he cut his finger and taped the rest of the show with his hand wrapped in a towel.

ib, do you have any friends or neighbors who you could give the extra food to? I always give mine to my daughters and my friends in yoga class.

Yes that was back when there was a whole lot less of Emeril. I saw it on a trip once a long time ago ... I think I was in Florida. It was before we had Food Network in WV.

I'd like FN to show cooking classics such as, Julia Child, The Two Fat Ladies, and the campy Galloping Gourmet.

That must have been before we got FN on cable. We didn't get it until years after it started.

Was Chef du Jour the same with showing their restaurants? They should bring it back.

Retro Cooking Shows!!! Either bring back the classics, or have a show that features foods from the 50's, 60's and 70's. Jello has a million different ideas of how to use it!:1:
